Networking Dinner for ITALIA- Exporivaschuhindia!
Now that I am on my updating spree, I thought I might as well do it completely. :)
I recently had an opportunity to do the set up for a Networking Dinner- "Exporivaschuhindia" organised by the trade division of the Italian Consulate. ITALIA as it is called, had decided to do this in the Sovereign Hall of Le Meridien, New Delhi.
The brief was to have a simple yet classy display of leather merchandise (Bags, Footwear and Shoes mostly) belonging to 40 different Italian Companies, in a room where people could have dinner while networking and taking a look at the merchandise. Their idea was to invite prospective Indian buyers and get them to mingle with the Italian Manufacturers, thereby increasing trade.
Sounded interesting! To balance this act of merchandise display, while keeping the dinner in forefront, I worked out a layout plan. A lot of different options were given but the one chosen was of spreading the display around, exhibition style...

P.S: A special note of thanks to my dahling' bro and little elf Alakh Bajaj for being my helping hand at this event. :)

Models or Mannequins?
Yup! I'm soooo aware that I haven't put up any of my projects cum works yet. Guilty as charged! :P I do promise to find the time and update it as soon as I can.
I just heard of this incredible new thing in a store called Coin in Milan and wanted to share it with all of you immediately. Though its happened in the past too, it never seizes to amaze me the new things creative people come up with, in windows. :)
Apparently, live models were used by a swim-wear brand to pose instead of Mannequins in there store windows! Interesting eh?
Can you imagine the realm of creative things that can be done with that? Thought I'll take this opportunity to share some snaps of the same with all of you. Enjoy it. And do feel free to leave a comment.

What is Beautiful Mess?
Beautiful Mess is my consulting company! The long-debated name, was worked on by lots of helpful pixies, but final objet dárt of a fairy, Shimul, to whom I shall be eternally grateful. For those who don't know me, I'm Astuti, a Visual Merchandiser by profession, with a work-experience of 8 years. My inherent love for window displays started very young, when I walked across stalls and markets and checked them out. I didn't understand the concepts or principles of what was displayed and never for once envisioned a career doing just that!
A Visual Communicator cum journalist by qualification, Visual Merchandising happened quite by accident, when I was looking for a job-change. However, it is one accident I have not regretted till date. It has and continues to give me the opportunity to be around things I love- Colours, Products and Designs. Add, free retail-therapy to that mixture, and voilà! :)
The name 'Beautiful Mess' is inspired by all things beautiful, sometimes mis-understood, created outta former mess. I have heard aesthetically displayed items, being described like that by on-lookers, many-a-times! But as a professional, I love the feeling derived when something nicely displayed, gets picked up in a jiffy. I love this challenge and am a resilient optimist who believes "just about anything can be sold, as long as it is well displayed".
Beautiful Mess is also a small platform through which I'd like to reach those Indian Retailers who aren't experimenting with the magic of Visual Merchandising yet because they can't afford the magicians full time. Hiring a consultant during those important festivals and events can be a way to see just how enchantingly this magic works!
In case of work related queries, I can be easily reached at astuti@gmail.com.
